Facts about Sahibzada Zorawar Singh’s Life

Sahibzada Zorawar Singh was born on November 28, 1696. He was the son of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Jito Ji. Sahibzada Zorawar Singh was born at Anandpur Sahib. He has three brothers named Sahibzada Ajit Singh, Sahibzada Jujhar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh.

Following are some facts about this brave Sahibzada of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

1. Departure from Anandpur

At the time of war when all the Sikhs were departure from Anandpur with guru ji, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh was also with them under the care of Mata Gujri Ji.He was only 9 year old at that time. Sahibzada Fateh Singh was also with him at the time of departure.

2. Separated from Guru Ji and Other Sikhs

But mughals did not keep their promise and attacked on Sikhs. On the other side there was heavy rain and River sarsa was swollen very much. In that condition Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh were separated from other Sikhs and Guru ji. Only Mata Gujri was with them.

3.Passed the Sarsa with Mata Gujri and followed by a Former cook

They passed the Sarsa river with Mata Gujri. A old cook of Guru Gobind Singh ji saw them and helped them. They reached to the village where already wazir khan was in a chance to catch any of guru’s relative.

4.Arrested by wazir and resided in thanda burj sarhind during winter

Guru’s former cook who helped them, was in greed. He handed over Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri to Wazir Khan. where they were arrested.

5.Bravely faced the Wazir

When Sahibzadas were presented in the wazir’s court . They were not afraid. Even they talk to wazir with all guts, bravery and courage. Wazir offered them various luxurious things. But both the sahibzadas refused to accept anything.

6.Martyred at Sirhind

These young Childs were punished by wazir and both of them were entombed within a wall of cement and bricks. It was a very tragic and painful death of those brave Childs. They were died on 26 December 1705

The whole Sikh world solute Sahibzada Fateh Singh and Zorawar Singh. They never accept any luxury offered by mughals and allowed their young bodies to suffer with pain and tortures.

The place where the two sons of Guru Gobind were Martyred is today known as Fatehgarh.
